Today we went Curling with our friends from Bill's Ranch in Frisco.  It was a beautiful Colorado Blue Sky Day with much fun for all.

Our winter is off to a great start with plenty of snow and great skiing.  Our Mid January total accumulation reached 136 inches for the water year and we have 26 inches on the level.  Here are some photos from our adventures skiing and wild life - our local fox enjoys the sun outside Dave's office window.

Our trip thru Glenwood along the Colorado River was quite beautiful in early Januarary

January 2014 brought heavy snows and excellent skiing conditions. We visited Ann's brother Greg and is wife Annie at their ranch in Grand Junction where we had a beautiful sunrise on the Colorado Monument - main photo.  Our trip from Summit County to Mesa County took us thru some beautiful country from Vail Pass to Glenwood Canyon, and down the Colorado River into Grand Junction - see photo image gallery.

Our Rotary Club of Summit County celebrated the holidays beginning with special awards to deserving Summit County folks who have made a significant difference to our community. (Cover photo)

We enjoyed XC Skiing around our home in the Summit next to US National Forest and Eagles Nest Wilderness.

Early season skiing in the Summit was relatively good this season, but we skied a couple very cold days at Breckenridge and Copper.

We watched the World Cup Womans Down Hill competition at Beaver Creek on a beautiful Colorado Blue Sky day. 

The DKP celebrated the 2013 LJU vinsko pot for sv Martin's Day.  Martine and Bojan prepare prazen krompir along the Ljubljanica river.

The USMC Ball provided a wonderful patriotic and diplomatic event for the US Embassy and Slovenian friends at the Union Hotel.  Top military from the US and Slovenia were present to help celebrate the USMC's 238th Birthday in this formal affair.  GENERAL Franc Gorenc, Commander USAF Europe with Ann and Dave. GEN Gorenc visited his childhood home south of LJU by helicopter before being the Guest of Honor at the Ball.

Rotary Clubs in LJU hosted a special sv Martinoc Vecer at the Hotel Lev to raise money for under privilaged children.  The formal affair had local musicians from Dolenska and wines from Metlika.

Our many Slovenian friends have been so hospitable to us, we returned the favor at our new place on Mirje.  Drago and Marta Gaspari came for dinner with his mother Menci to enjoy some American cooking on the BBQ.

Our Colorado Friends Dick and Mary stopped by SLO while visiting Europe, then Tim and Lori arrived for a quick look at Tim's roots.  We had a great time with the Prazem Krompir society (DPK) Drustvo za Prazen Krompir. 

Vojko had a wonderful party in Krsko.

We enjoy biking throughout Europe and especially in Slovenia.  View from one of our favorite routes past country farms and logging mills just east of Ljubljana.  This is a nice 20 km ride to a comfortable gostilna next to a beautiful church below the eastern basin hills.

Our visit to Budapest included a river boat ride along the Donau and a Hop-on-Off Bus tour.  We met Scott and Peggy after their Donau river boat cruise of 6 days and then drove to Prague.
